Doku’s stock has continued to rise, to the point that he is now being courted by a number of Premier League clubs. Chelsea and West Ham are said to have shown interest, but reports that the hot prospect has made a move to the Etihad Stadium his top priority.

It remains to be seen whether City will be willing to pay the going rate for Doku. Rennes are said to be looking for around €60 million (£51m/$65m) from any deal. The holders of Premier League and Champions League titles would have no problem finding those funds, but must decide whether Doku is worth such a big investment.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
City are in the market for another wide attacking option after allowing Riyad Mahrez to link up with Saudi side Al-Ahli. The Blues have not been put off by Rennes’ asking price for Doku, but they have not yet tabled an official bid either.
