Tottenham Hotspur fans have once again urged Toby Alderweireld to sign a new contract.

The 6 foot 2 Belgium international has been in superb form this season and turned in another excellent display as Spurs beat Borussia Dortmund 1-0 at Signal Iduna Park in midweek.

That result sealed a 4-0 aggregate victory, with Mauricio Pochettino’s men now awaiting next week’s quarter-final draw.

Alderweireld has made 38 appearances in all competitions this term alongside Jan Vertonghen and Davinson Sanchez but a question mark continues to hang over his future.

Spurs have exercised an extension that is embedded into the centre-back’s contract and ties him to the club until 2020 but, in doing so, they have also activated a release clause of £25million that can be triggered this summer.

Accordingly, Tottenham fans asking Alderweireld to stay has become a recurring theme in recent weeks.

That’s exactly what happened last month and after tweeting a nondescript message on Thursday morning, Spurs fans again inundated the defender with messages to commit his future to the club after another season of exceptional performances.
